Port Harcourt thrift, done properly
About.
Shop with Special PH is a small, curated shop based in Port Harcourt. We source two things and only these two:
- Top thrift— affordable Nigerian-made fashion. We work with local producers across the country (Aba, Lagos, Onitsha, here in PH) who cut, sew, and finish pieces for a fraction of what imports cost. Same silhouettes, same quality of construction, different price tag. Every piece is vetted, steamed, and photographed one at a time — we pass on anything we wouldn't wear ourselves.
- Foreign wears— imported pieces from UK, US, Italy, and Turkey. Often new-with-tags: boutique overstock, sample-sale leftovers, last season's runs. This is the premium tier — retail quality at direct-import prices, no high-street markup.
Every card on the catalog wears a THRIFT or FOREIGNbadge so you always know which tier you're looking at.
We work in small quantities. Some pieces come in a single colour or print; others come in two or three colourways or prints, with a small stock of each. When stock on a piece runs out, the listing closes — no waitlists, no “we have your size in the back.”
How it works
New drop every Friday on Instagram (@specialthriftph) and on this site. Tap the heart on any piece to save it to your cart, check out with card or bank transfer, and we ship within 3 days of payment across Port Harcourt — GRA, D-Line, Rumuola, Trans Amadi, Mile 1, Eliozu and everything in between.
Why we built this
Running a thrift shop out of Instagram DMs was breaking us. Customers would ask “is this still available?” twelve times about items that had been sold for hours. Payments lived in screenshots. Orders lived in her head.
So we built a site where the catalog is the source of truth. When a piece sells, it's SOLD, loudly, across the whole shop. No more “sorry, just gone” replies at midnight. No more wondering if the transfer went through.
Quality
We vet every piece before it goes on the catalog. For thrift, that means checking stitching, fit, and finish on pieces from our producers — if the seam work is sloppy or the fabric feels off, we don't list it. For foreign, it means inspecting each piece that lands against the original listing. If anything has a flaw — a loose thread, a small mark — we say so in the description. We won't send you something we wouldn't wear ourselves.
